Call for Applications

Postgraduate Palliative Care Scholarships for the 2012 Academic Year

Medical, nursing and allied health professionals working in Victoria who have already completed an undergraduate course of study are invited to apply for a scholarship to undertake an approved postgraduate course in palliative care.

The Victorian Department of Health Cancer and Palliative Care Integrated Care Unit is funding  these scholarships to assist  health professionals to develop their capacity to provide palliative care. Applicants must be currently working or actively seeking employment in specialist palliative care, primary care, aged care  or in other health services where enhanced expertise in palliative care would be beneficial.

Maximum funding of up to $3,500 is available per scholarship ($4,500 for health professionals working in rural areas) is availble to successful applicants.

The eligiblity and selection criteria are outlined in the guidelines. Please read the guidelines carefully. This is a competitive process, so you are encourage to submit an application of a high quality.

Palliative Care Victoria is administering the scholarship program on behalf of the Department of Health. All applications will be assessed by a selection panel.

Approved Courses

Scholarships will only be granted for approved palliative courses designed for post-graduate students. An indicative list of approved courses is attached – however, this is indicative only and some of the course details may have changed. So it is important that you make appropriate inquiries about the availability and suitability of the course you wish to undertake before applying for the scholarship.

Submission Process:

All applications must be type-written and submitted via email along with scanned copies of relevant documents to Palliative Care Victoria at info@pallcarevic.asn.au. In exceptional circumstances, these can be faxed to us at 03 9662 9722.

Closing Date:

Applications  must be received by 12 Midday, Monday, 5th December 2011. Late applications will not be considered.

Acknowledgement of Receipt of Applications and Notice of Outcome

Palliative Care Victoria will acknowledge via email the receipt of all applications within three business days of receipt.

Our aim is to advise applicants of the outcome of their scholarship application in the week commencing 19th December 2011.
