About the program
Melbourne City Mission Palliative Care (MCMPC) was established in 1981 as the first community-based palliative care service to operate in Victoria. MCMPC aims to enhance quality of life by providing specialist interdisciplinary palliative care for people living with a terminal condition, their families and carers.
MCMPC provides a 24 hour service 7 days a week.
About the role
The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Residential Aged Care will work alongside the existing Aged Care team to increase the capacity of residential aged care facilities to manage quality of life care for residents with specialist palliative care needs. This will be through a consultancy, educative, engagement and empowerment model which seeks to ensure that residents can receive the right care, in the right place at the right time.
In a complex palliative care environment, your leadership, clinical knoweldge and support will be important to develop and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders within the Aged care sector in order to improve outcomes for aged care residents.

Selection Criteria

Skills & experience include but is not limited to:
• Qualified Registered Nurse registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Advanced knowledge and skills in the principles and practices of palliative care.
• Previous experience in community palliative care, aged care or similar.
Desirable:
• Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training and education.
• Masters qualification in Palliative Care or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience in research
