Allied Health

Allied Health, which represents twelve professions, is a rapidly growing and integrated service within Cabrini. Allied Health at Cabrini offers senior consultant and leadership roles; work in clinical streams; a junior staff rotation and support program; professional development and teaching opportunities; and developing strong external and university partnerships. There will be the expansion of collaborative, multi-disciplinary research with the recent appointment of a Senior Allied Health Research Consultant to support Allied Health led research.



The Role

We are seeking a motivated palliative care /hospital experienced Social Worker to join our social work and Allied Health team.

Experience working in a hospital setting specifically with some Palliative care kowledge, the ability to work across all age groups and illnesses is essential. The successful applicant will have demonstrated commitment to a collaborative model of practice within the context of an inter-disciplinary team comprising of doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech pathologists, dieticians and case managers.This position will be part of the In-patient and Community Palliative Care team. They will receive supervision from a more Senior Social Worker, have opportunities for membership on working committees; and be eligible for education programs and involvement in quality/research projects.

Selection Criteria

Key Capabilities
•Eligibility for membership to the AASW (essential)
•A minimum of three to five years’ experience working in a hospital setting (desirable)
•Ability to work with all age groups and illnesses
•Strong clinical experience and knowledge in managing a complex caseload in a Palliative care setting (essential)
•Assessment of patients, sharing discharge planning, referral to community services and supports, networking, aged care processes and inter-disciplinary team work
•Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision, demonstrated examples of initiative, strong communication, computer and documentation skills
•Commitment to improving own practice and professional development, participation in projects
•Ability to accept direction, accountability and performance review (essential)
