Eastern Palliative Care is a not-for-profit organisation that delivers home-based palliative care to clients and their families living within the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne.

We are currently looking for OTs to join our Allied Health Team to provide a comprehensive service to our clients. This is a great opportunity to be part of a positive, supportive and enthusiastic team. The maternity leave contract may have the opportunity of a permanent role ongoing.

Selection Criteria

One of OT roles is a Specialist Support role, which is one of the specialist, discipline specific roles within Allied Health. It focuses on OT, which is an integral component of EPCs holistic model of care. This role is a source of clinical expertise for the organisation, which aims to enhance the services provided to clients and the interdisciplinary model of care. This includes:

• providing clinical advice, consultation and expertise
• sharing knowledge and providing education, information, resources and training
• contributing to program and skill development
• promoting the discipline across the organisation
• developing and contributing to evaluation, research and quality activities
• contributing to consistent and coordinated evidence based policies, processes and practices
• providing home based OT assessment and intervention to clients within an interdisciplinary team model

To be successful for the permanent part-time or maternity leave role, you will have:

• Bachelor Of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) or Bachelor of Occupational Therapy
• Eligibility of membership with the Association of OT Australia
• Evidence of current registration with AHPRA
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience
• SWEP Registration
• Previous experience in palliative care or community health setting
• Well-developed interpersonal and written communication skills
• Ability to work with a high level of independence and autonomy
• High level organisation and time management skills
• Understanding and experience of pressure care management and resources
• Understanding and experience of prescribing lifters and transfer aids.
• Current Victorian driver’s licence, good driving record and willingness to use own vehicle in accordance with EPC Policy and Process
• Police Check and Working With Children Check

To be successful in the Specialist Support role, in addition, you will have:

• Experience providing discipline specific clinical advice, consultation, expertise and leadership.
• Experience developing and sharing knowledge and information/resources, providing education and training.
• Experience in program and skill development including evaluation, review, research and quality activities.
• Experience in professional peer group supervision.
