Not-for-profit, Palliative Care Victoria, has announced the appointment of Adjunct Associate Professor Violet Platt as its new CEO, effective from 22nd June 2020.
Most recently, Violet worked as the Co-Director and Director of Nursing at WA Department of Health, where she was responsible for the strategic development of the WA Cancer and Palliative Care Network. Within this role, she also led the development of national and state-wide cancer reforms.
Violet has over 30 years’ experience working in the health sector, first as a Registered Nurse and for the last 13 years as a senior executive in WA Health, achieving a Lifetime Achievement Honour, in 2016, for her contribution to leadership, nursing, cancer and palliative care services by the WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards committee.
Throughout her professional career, Violet has served as a Board Member at Cancer Council WA and a Trustee at the Western Australian Nurses memorial Charitable Trust, She is also an Adjunct Associate Professor with Edith Cowan University and Notre Dame University of Australia.
Violet comes to the organisation with an extensive experience in the health and palliative care industry and says she is looking forward to continuing the positive work of Palliative Care Victoria in promoting palliative care as a human right for all Victorians.
