Our aim is to ensure that all Victorians with a life limiting illness and their families are supported to live, die and grieve well. We need the support of the community, Government, health professionals, volunteers and businesses to achieve this goal.
In Victoria, we have around 2,000 trained volunteers working with palliative care services to support people with a life limiting illness and their families. They assist in a wide range of ways, including: giving the family a short break from caring, recording biographies, providing relaxation and sharing interests, transport to medical appointments, speaking to groups about palliative care, fundraising, etc.
In Victoria, the majority of palliative care services are provided by the public health system and non-government community organisations. The Victorian Government provides funding for palliative care services. More funding is needed to meet the growing demand for palliative care services. Palliative care services raise funds through opportunity shops etc. but more funding is needed.
We welcome gifts of time, expertise, support, donations, grants and bequests. They all very valuable in helping us to provide information, support and high quality palliative care and end of life care services. Please call us if you would like to discuss how you could help.
