Palliative Care Victoria is pleased to announce the release of its new suite of multilingual resources on What is palliative care? 
Developed to support Victorians with diverse language needs, PCV has published new web pages and bilingual flyers in 31 languages offering clear, easy-to-understand information about palliative care. Each page and flyer explains what palliative care is, who it is for, and how it can support people living with a life-limiting illness, as well as their families and carers. The resources also outline how palliative care services are delivered in Victoria, helping to dispel common misconceptions and encouraging people to seek information and support early.
To ensure the information was not only accurately translated but also meaningful and appropriate for each community, the material underwent a comprehensive community review process. Community members and bilingual health professionals provided feedback on the clarity of the information, cultural appropriateness, terminology, wording and tone. Their insights have helped create resources that are both linguistically accurate and culturally responsive.

By making trusted, plain-language information available in a wide range of languages, Palliative Care Victoria aims to reduce barriers to understanding and improve equitable access to palliative care for multicultural communities. The use of clear, accessible language ensures that people and their families can better understand what palliative care is, how it can help, and how to access support when they need it.
The bilingual format also makes the flyers a practical resource for healthcare professionals, interpreters and community organisations, supporting conversations about palliative care between patients, families and care providers.
The What is palliative care? flyers are free to download from the Palliative Care Victoria website. Printed copies are also available free of charge.
