It is just over 12 weeks until the Victorian State Government Elections!
Palliative Care Victoria (PCV) have been busy promoting the Palliative Care Call to Actions that were developed following meetings with our members, health professionals, volunteers, the community, partner organisations and palliative care service providers across Victoria. Here is a snapshot of what we have been up to:
Briefings with Politicians
- PCV held a series of briefings in July and August with 21 Politicians from LGAs that have projections for the highest increase in palliative care by 2032. These briefings provided an update on palliative care in Victoria, and our Palliative Care Call to Actions and the latest data insights showcasing two important new sets of data. Each politician was provided with a follow up email containing information to support their discussions with Treasury, their respective colleagues and constituents and The State of Palliative Care Report.
- PCV provided an update for each of the Community Palliative Care Services in these LGAs so that they can reach out to the Politician’s to have more in-depth discussions about their local palliative care needs.
Informed by Data
- We have developed data for each of Victoria’s 79 Local Government Areas showing their palliative care needs from 2024 to 2032. PCV distributed this important data and our Palliative Care Call to Actions to 79 Council Mayors to support awareness, planning and discussions about palliative care.
Tell Your Story Campaign
- The ‘Tell Your Story Campaign’ has being translated into 15 languages to ensure people from multicultural backgrounds have access to share their palliative care stories. See here to Tell Your Story in your language.
- The ‘Tell Your Story Campaign’ has being shared by in the Commissioner for LGBTIQA+ Communities Newsletter #6 with a link to the Tell Your Story Campaign with relevant imagery for LGBTIQA+ communities.

St Pauls Cathedral hosted a signboard and digital screens inside and outside the Cathedral opposite Flinders Street. Close to 120,000 people walked past these landmarks. PCV Members were asked to vote on some photos taken by the team.
