Celebrating community collaboration
The ‘Lunch and Launch’ events were hosted in partnership with the community organisations that collaborated with PCV to co-design the booklets. They brought together members of their communities including those who contributed to testing the translations and people participated in the photoshoots for each booklet.
It was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate these new resources. The enthusiasm and support at each event highlighted the importance of making palliative care information accessible to everyone and the value of working alongside communities to ensure resources are culturally relevant and meaningful.
These new resources would not have been possible without the invaluable support of PCV’s community partner organisations:
- Alevi Federation of Australia
- Australian Croatian Community Services
- Australian-Filipino Community Services
- Indian Care
- Macedonian Community Welfare Association
- Polish Community Council of Victoria
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our community partners for their collaboration, cultural expertise, strong community connections and commitment throughout the co-design process. Their contributions have been instrumental in ensuring the booklets are culturally and linguistically relevant for the communities they aim to serve.

Supporting informed decisions about future care
Making decisions about future care can be challenging, particularly when families are navigating challenging health issues, unfamiliar health information, language barriers or different cultural perspectives.
The Being prepared as a family decision-maker booklets aim to help families better understand their role in care-related discussions and feel more confident talking about what matters to them and their loved ones. Having information available in a familiar language can help people better understand their options, ask questions and participate more fully in conversations about palliative care and future wishes.
With 15 in-language booklets now available across the series, PCV is continuing its work to ensure people from multicultural communities can access information and support to make informed decisions about future care.
Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this milestone, and to the community members and organisations whose contributions made it possible. Together, we are helping more Victorian families feel informed, supported and prepared for conversations about future care.

Copies of the booklets can be ordered or downloaded from the Dignified and Respectful Decisions website.
