The Dignified and Respectful Decisions project by Palliative Care Victoria is working to ensure culturally appropriate resources are available for families from multicultural communities as highlighted in a recent Il Globo article.

Since their launch in late May, the Palliative Care Victoria (PCV) team has been actively sharing the multilingual versions of the Being Prepared as a Family Decision-Maker booklets with communities across the state.
Just last week, the Italian edition was featured in Il Globo newspaper. Widely regarded as an institution within the Italian community, Il Globo serves as a vital cultural and informational hub for Italian Australians.
The article highlighted how important it is for families to feel informed and supported when facing the realities of life-limiting illness. It also encouraged early conversations and planning, helping to ensure that the wishes of loved ones are respected during the palliative stage of care.
“Palliative care takes a more holistic approach,” said Gucciardo-Masci, “It doesn’t focus only on the clinical aspect, but also on the physical, emotional and spiritual sides. The goal is to ensure people have the best possible goodbye.”
This initiative reflects PCV’s commitment to ensuring culturally appropriate resources are available for all communities, helping families navigate difficult decisions with dignity and confidence.
