Dignified and Respectful Decisions – Launch event

The Dignified and Respectful Decisions Project provides information and resources for families supporting older Australians living in aged care homes across Victoria.

7:00AM - 9:30AM Thursday 8th February 2024
The Pullman – Melbourne on the Park, 192 Wellington Parade, East Melbourne, VIC
The Dignified and Respectful Decisions launch will showcase resources developed to support substitute decisions-makers caring for a family member in residential aged care.

The online and hard copy resources assist decision-makers to be better prepared to make treatment and care decisions for their loved one while working collaboratively with the aged care team. The resource discusses what types of medical and end-of-life decisions may be required for their family member and encourages planning ahead to make the decision-making process easier when the time comes.

The launch event will be attended by delegates from the Victorian Department of Health, and will also feature an expert panel from the palliative care and aged care sectors including:

  • Dr Stephen Duckett – Panel Moderator
  • Prof. Barbara Hayes – Palliative care specialist physician
  • Ms Karen Kessner - Project Officer, Aged Care and Disability Strategy
  • Ms Nola Horne – Consumer with lived experience
  • Ms Sandra Hills OAM – CEO of Benetas
