Summary

Palliative Care South East provides palliative care in the south east metropolitan region of Melbourne. We support people with a life-limiting illness to live well and, in doing so, provide support at home to improve the quality of life of individuals, carers and families. Our specialist palliative care services are provided to people of all ages, free of charge, in the Local Government areas of Cardinia, Casey, Greater Dandenong and part of Kingston. 

About the Role 

We have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced and qualified Spiritual Care Worker to join our team on a permanent part-time basis (0.4) FTE. The Spiritual Care Worker provides spiritual and bereavement support to patients, families and carers inclusive of all cultures and regardless of religious or spiritual orientation.

Responsibilities 

  • Provide Holistic Spiritual Care to client, carer, and family members 
  • Provide bereavement support to families and carers (excluding all funeral related activities) 
  • Promote and Assist with Carer Wellbeing and Bereavement programs 
  • Provide Internal and External Referrals for specialist services when needs exceed Spiritual Care Palliative Care requirements 
  • Play active role with PCSE Team Model and daily Clinical Handovers 
  • Work closely with the Counselling Team and assist with Bereavement Risk Identification Assessments when appropriate

Selection Criteria
  • Spiritual Care Education or approved equivalent Membership/Affiliation or eligibility with professional body 
  • A qualification in either Palliative Care or Grief and Bereavement is advantageous 
  • National Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check prior to commencing employment 
  • A current, Full Drivers’ licence for the State of Victoria 
  • Employees are required to maintain compliance with Vaccine requirements
