Summary

Palliative Care Services, based at the Olivia Newton-John Centre, provides specialist palliative care to patients with cancer and any other life limiting illness. This includes via a 24-bed specialist inpatient Palliative Care Unit, a Palliative Care Consultancy service to the acute inpatients of the Austin Hospital, a specialist Palliative Care Clinic, a Palliative Care acute community inreach services (with visits to patients’ residence or residential aged care facility), and liaising with Community Palliative Care Service providers for ongoing care.

This role will primarily focus on the Palliative Care acute community inreach services, including visits to patients' residence or residential aged care facility, and/or the inpatient Palliative Care Consultancy service, including participating in the Saturday roster, and other aspects of the Palliative Care service as required.

Fixed term until February 2024

Selection Criteria

• Registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Post graduate qualification in palliative care nursing or equivalent 
• Significant specialist palliative care experience, with experience in a senior nursing role 
• Evidence of a commitment to excellence in the care of palliative care patients, with demonstrated understanding of the care and management in an inpatient, ambulatory and community setting 
• Previous experience in a similar role in an inpatient, ambulatory and community setting 
• Aged care experience desirable
