Summary

MND Victoria is dedicated to providing the best possible support for people living with motor neurone disease (MND). We have a vibrant state-wide volunteer program with volunteer support underpinning all of MND Victoria’s activities.

In line with our Volunteer Engagement Strategy the successful applicant will help us grow our volunteer programs in regional and metro areas to better meet our vision of “the best care until the world is free from MND”.

We are seeking someone based in Melbourne but will consider applications from anywhere in Victoria.

Programs and service areas the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator will work with and support include, but are not limited to:

  • Support Services – Advisor, Equipment, Education, Information and Carers Services
  • Finance and Business Support
  • Supporter Development and Communications Team Direct client activities supported by the volunteers include MND Victoria’s life stories program, hand and foot massage, social visiting and bereavement support.

Volunteer support is also engaged in merchandise, administration, event and fundraising activities. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the Volunteer Engagement Team, and all stakeholders to:

  • implement the volunteer engagement strategy
  • deliver volunteer programs
  • provide leadership, training, support and supervision for our volunteers.

The successful applicant will have:

  • a tertiary qualification in volunteer management, health, welfare, or community service development or equivalent
  • experience working in volunteer management
  • experience, understanding and/or commitment to working with people who have an acquired and life-limiting disability
  • a “can do, flexible approach” with a demonstrated client focused approach to all work activities.
What is offered
  • Part-time role 0.6FTE. 
  • Excellent salary (range $89,000 to $96,000 pro rata)

Selection Criteria

Essential:

1. Tertiary qualification in volunteer management, health, welfare, or community service development or equivalent
2. Demonstrated ability with recruitment, training, coordination and supervision of volunteers
3. Demonstrated knowledge of issues impacting volunteer involvement and community expectations for volunteer involvement
4. Demonstrated experience in volunteer program review and in identifying new opportunities
5. Demonstrated experience, understanding and/or commitment to working with people who have an acquired and life-limiting disability
6. Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team
7. Demonstrated high level communication and facilitation skills including liaison, negotiation and conflict management and creative problem-solving skills
8. Demonstrated ability to manage competing work tasks and work effectively to deadlines
9. Demonstrated computer literacy and understanding of electronic databases
10. A “can do approach” with a demonstrated stakeholder /client focus to all work activities
11. Current Victorian Driver’s Licence

Desirable: 

1. Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment
2. Demonstrated experience of at least three years working in volunteer management, preferably in a community setting
3. Demonstrated understanding of the impact of progressive degenerative neurological conditions on family and carers
4. Confidence and experience in using virtual technology to engage with community members, volunteers, clients, team members and service providers
