West Gippsland Healthcare Group provides acute medical and surgical, obstetric, emergency, community and aged care services, primarily in the Shire of Baw Baw, approximately 100 kms east of Melbourne. Warragul hospital is located only 30 minutes drive from Pakenham along the freeway.

We are seeking an experienced Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner to provide advanced, compassionate, and evidence‑based care across inpatient, community, and residential aged care settings. 

This senior clinical role is ideal for a recognised leader in palliative care who combines expert clinical judgement with a strong commitment to patient‑centred, holistic practice. Practising both autonomously and in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, the Nurse Practitioner will play a pivotal role in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with complex palliative needs. 

The position requires advanced clinical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to influence service delivery, clinical quality, and system improvement. In addition to delivering exemplary care, the successful applicant will contribute to research, education, quality improvement, and the ongoing development of palliative care services aligned with organisational values, strategic priorities, and key performance indicators.

Selection Criteria

To be successful, in addition to the above attributes you will have:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse 
  • Current valid endorsement with AHPRA as a Nurse Practitioner 
  • Minimum of five years of current relevant Palliative Care experience 
  • Extensive advanced knowledge of Palliative Care 
  • Peer recognition as a leader within clinical field 
  • Knowledge of research methods and processes 
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively 
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and innovative 
  • Capacity for critical reflection
