Summary
Fixed term, full time opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner to join our East Hume Regional Palliative Care Consultancy Service.
The East Hume Regional Consultancy Palliative Care Service provides specialist palliative care support to patients, families and clinicians across inpatient, outpatient and community settings in Benalla, Wangaratta, Wodonga, Albury and the shires of Alpine, Indigo, Mansfield, Towong and parts of Strathbogie.
The Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner will work as part of the Regional Consultancy team which comprises of palliative care doctors (locally based palliative care physician and registrars, plus visiting palliative care physicians from St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne) & a nurse practitioner candidate. The team provide direct and indirect consultation services in both the community and inpatient setting across the catchment area, as well as education, research, quality improvement, service development and community engagement activities across the region.
The successful applicant will be an active member of a highly supportive team, as well as having the skills and ability to work autonomously throughout the region. The Palliative Care Nurse practitioner has the capacity to use their full skillset in assessing and managing complex palliative care problems, while also provide opportunities for clinical system development, research, education and quality improvement.

Selection Criteria
1/ Current registration and endorsement with APHRA as a Nurse Practitioner of the selected discipline.
2/ Demonstrated ability to function autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role.
3/ Demonstrated capability to effectively communicate with a range of divergent health care professionals.
4/ Demonstrated ability to engage with and promote reflective practice across the nursing workforce.
5/ Understands and follows Nurse Practitioner Standards of Practice in accordance with the NMBA Nurse Practitioners Standards for Practice (March 2021)
6/ Awareness of issues in delivery of community services in rural and isolated areas
7/ Experience at a clinical leadership level in working with and utilising the Australian National safety standards to inform and evaluate practice.
